Kim Min-jae (26, Naples) was the first Asian player to be selected as the player of the month in Italian professional soccer Serie A.
On the 30th of last month, Italian professional soccer Serie A said, “Napoli defender Kim Min-jae was selected as the player of the month for September. The awards ceremony will be held in the match between Naples and Turin on the 1st.” Luigi de Siervo, Serie A representative, explained the reason for selecting a player for September, saying, “Kim Min-jae showed his ability by effectively defending Serie A’s representative strikers Ciro Immobile and Olivier Giroud.”
Kim Min-jae won the most votes in the fan vote, beating out prominent players such as Rodrigo Bekang (Udinese), Merih Demiral (Atalanta), Theo Hernandez (AC Milan), and Sergei Milinkovic (Lazio).
This is the first time that an Asian player has been selected as the Player of the Month in Serie A, an Italian professional football team that has been awarded awards since the 2019-2020 season. Napoli are leading the league with 5 wins and 2 draws in the 2022-2023 season.
