DUBAI, 30th September/WAM/ The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) honored the sponsors and partners of the 24th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), Dubai Solar Energy and the 8th World Green Economy Summit, during a ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai.
In his speech during the honoring ceremony, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, President and Founder of WETEX and Dubai Solar Energy Exhibition, and President of the World Green Economy Organization, praised the efforts of sponsors and partners and their keenness to support sustainability and the transition towards a green economy.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: “I extend my deepest gratitude and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, for his generous sponsorship of the World Green Economy Summit organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, the World Green Economy Organization and the Supreme Council of Energy in Dubai under the theme “Leading Climate Action through Cooperation: The Roadmap to Achieving Carbon Neutrality.” I also extend my thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, for inaugurating the World Green Economy Summit and for his sponsorship and inauguration of the WETEX and Dubai Solar Show, which This year, 1,750 companies from 55 countries participated in it, in addition to 64 sponsors. Al Tayer added: “The success of organizing these pioneering events confirms the commitment of the UAE to support and promote the process of sustainable development and the transition towards a green economy, and consolidates Dubai’s position as a leading global center for clean energy and green economy, according to an insightful vision that recognizes the importance of balancing development and preserving the environment and natural resources. ” His Excellency Al Tayer stressed that thanks to the vision and directives of the wise leadership, Dubai has become an influential center at the global level in various economic sectors, contributing to the development of effective solutions to promote growth and face challenges, with its distinguished expertise and ingredients, especially in the renewable and clean energy sector and sustainability within the framework of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. And Dubai’s 2050 carbon neutral strategy to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
Since its inception, the World Green Economy Summit has contributed to mobilizing global efforts to promote climate action, and this year’s theme “Leading Climate Action through Cooperation: A Roadmap to Achieving Carbon Neutrality” reflects the need for concerted international efforts to confront climate challenges as they affect the entire world.
The WETEX and Dubai Solar Show have also established the emirate’s position as a leading global center for the green economy and a preferred destination for organizing and hosting major international events, conferences and exhibitions, as it is one of the most important and largest exhibitions specialized in the sectors of energy, water, environment, oil and gas, green development and related sectors.
