European Congress of Veterinary Virology – News, IHAP, Research

The 12th edition of the European Congress of Veterinary Virology (ESVV – European Society for Veterinary Virology) took place in Ghent, Belgium from September 20 to 23, 2022.

The ESVV was founded in 1988 in Belgium and aims to promote the exchange of information in the field of veterinary virology. The first ESVV meeting was organized in 1989. The most recent editions have had more than 400 participants and have taken place in Vienna (2018), Montpellier (2015) and Spain (2012).

For this 12th edition, many topics were discussed:

  • six plenary sessions on pathogenesis, viral immunology, epidemiology, diagnostics and vaccines, and zoonoses;
  • three round tables on viral infections in pigs, horses, cattle, wildlife and vector-borne viral diseases

Veterinarians, virologists, academics, authorities, pharmaceutical industries as well as doctoral students were encouraged to attend this congress.

The ENVT was therefore present at this 12th edition with the participation of the IHAP unit which came in force. Our researchers and teacher-researchers shared their recent work on avian influenza viruses and other emerging viruses.
Special mention to Fabien Filaire, doctoral student, who saw his presentation, on innovative methods for detecting viruses in farms, rewarded with the prize for the best oral communication.
