Diego Rivarola, former striker for La U, had a critical encounter with Waldemar Méndez when commenting on the punishment applied to Universidad Católica for the incidents in Copa Chile.
Diego Rivarola y Waldemar Mendez sparks were drawn when analyzing what happened in the Clásico Universitario on Wednesday, a duel valid for Chile Cup and suspended for the aggression with thunder bombs suffered by the goalkeeper Martín Parra.
Both ESPN panelists commented on the decision of the Chilean Football Federation which, in a divided ruling, opted to reschedule the remaining minutes of the match at the stadium and on a date to be defined.
In addition to the above, the cast of the foothills was denounced that, if they advance in the contest, they will have to play without an audience at home.
The foregoing provoked Rivarola’s angry reaction: “If you don’t go to something strict, if something different is not done, this will continue to happen the same. The punishment that Católica receives today, for me, is a joke. And the way it happened is even funnier”.

To conclude, Diego Rivarola indicated that “but I am not saying it because I am Catholic or because I am Colo Colo. Either way, even the other way around, it’s a joke.”
