Details of Paris Saint-Germain’s new offer to extend Lionel Messi’s contract

The Spanish radio “Cadena Ser” revealed the details of the new offer made by the management of Paris Saint-Germain to Argentine star Lionel Messi to extend the contract with the Parisian team.

Lionel Messi’s contract with Paris expires at the end of the current season, as he signed with Saint-Germain for two years in the summer before last, following the expiration of his contract with Barcelona.

And the Spanish radio indicated that Paris Saint-Germain offered Lionel Messi to renew his contract for a year with the same financial return that he receives annually, amounting to 30 million euros annually, in addition to an optional season, when he will be in his thirty-eighth year, to end the new contract at the end of the 2025 season.

This comes at a time when the Spanish press started talking regarding Lionel Messi’s chances of returning to Barcelona following the end of his current contract, especially following statements made by Joan Laporta, president of the Catalan club, in addition to his deputy, Romeo for economic affairs.

And Spanish press reports revealed that the Barcelona club management has not approached the Argentine star Lionel Messi so far in the matter of returning to the Catalan team once more during the next season following the expiration of his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Lionel Messi recovered from the low performance he showed with Paris Saint-Germain last season and appeared more powerful in scoring during the current version of the French League and the Champions League, which made him the subject of talk among everyone with the imminent expiration of his contract with his current club.

And the Spanish newspaper “Marca” indicated that the Barcelona club’s management, despite the statements made by Joan Laporta weeks ago, in which he opened the door for the Argentine star to return once more to the ranks of the Catalan team, in addition to what Barcelona’s Vice President for Economic Affairs said yesterday regarding the feasibility of contracting economically with Lionel Messi once more, but the matter did not come out of mere statements and did not rise to the seriousness so far.

The report stressed that Barcelona continues to resist a number of problems facing the Catalan team during the current period, most notably the high wage bill that the current board of directors seeks to solve through groups of economic levers to avoid complete collapse.
