MSP will bring health and wellness to Salinas

A team of doctors and mental health professionals will offer free services to all citizens who attend the public square of Salinas this October 1 from 9:00 a.m.

Residents of the Municipality of Salinas and neighboring towns may participate in ExpoHealthan event of the Journal of Medicine and Public Health that seeks to provide Puerto Ricans affected by the passage of Hurricane Fiona with medical attention, vaccinespsychological help, medical supplies, food, among others.

Support from the Department of Health Puerto Rico

The Secretary of Health, Dr. Carlos Mellado López, declared: “Once once more we join forces between the public and private sectors, prioritizing the health of our people and supporting all emergency response efforts. Our priority is to safeguard the population following the impact that Fiona has left us. I thank all the collaborators for their commitment to provide health and promote well-being for the people and communities of the South. Comprehensive health will continue to be our focus.”

For her part, the director of the Health Insurance Administration (ASES), Edna Marín Ramos, announced that for this important effort, doctors, insurers, government agencies, non-profit organizations and private companies have come together, in encouragement to offer different aids to the residents of the southern area, especially to the residents of the Municipality of Salinas; “Our goal is to bring services closer to people in times of great need following Fiona’s attack on the Island,” said Marín.

Multiple efforts and entities join this initiative

The Department of Health, ASES, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Pregnant, Lactating, Postpartum, Infants and Children (WIC), the Journal of Medicine and Public Health, MMM, Abbvie, Voces, the Heroes for Champions organization, the Health System Mennonite, Renal Council of PR and the Puerto Rican Diabetes Association are part of those invited to the fair.

In addition, Dr. Carlos Mellado highlighted that the mobile unit of the WIC Program will be available to attend new certifications, evaluations, deliver the EBT cards to the participants and assist in any other need. Similarly, the staff of the Medicaid program will be carrying out eligibility and qualification processes for Vital Medicaid, among other services.

Supplementary programming and entertainment

To alleviate the stress experienced by the residents due to the effects left by Fiona, those present will also be able to enjoy the show of Puerto Rico Gana and his entertainer Alex DJ as well as the talent of Eddie Ramírez, imitator of Juan Gabriel. They will be joined by Juan Vélez, Suzette Bacó, Normando Valentín and Rafael José as part of the public figures who will share the animation of the activity.
