Lord – Halo Infinite will soon integrate a battle royale?

Nearly a year following its launch, Halo Infinite is losing steam. The lack of local multiplayer has something to do with it. However, Microsoft does not intend to leave one of its flagship FPS adrift. The publisher would even prepare a big surprise that might please fans of the latest opus in a cult saga. According to some rumors, the action game might soon welcome a new mode of the most interesting: a battle royale.

No local multiplayer

A few days ago, the gaming community learned, to their dismay, thatHalo Infinite will not be entitled to a local multiplayer mode. The news had disappointed more than one gamer who, over the months, continued to nurture the hope of being able to play the game with their friends in the same room. Developer 343 Industries would have simply canceled this mode in order to better focus the online co-op mode.

It would indeed seem that the latter is giving the studio a hard time. Its development would take more time and resources, which prompted 343 Industries to sacrifice local multiplayer in order to meet deadlines and develop a co-op mode worthy of the video game. As a reminder, the launch of this co-op mode on Halo Infinite is scheduled for the beginning of next November.

A battle royale as a consolation prize

Halo Infinite’s permanent cancellation of local multiplayer shouldn’t cause too many problems for fans. Indeed, Microsoft might well reserve them better. A battle royale is reportedly in development. In any case, this is what Paul Sams, an Affinity studio executive, implies. During an interview with Venture Beat, he confirmed that his studio was considering a big project for the Halo franchise and more specifically the Infinite album. He explains

We’ve been working on Halo Infinite for over two years – they’re very restrictive on what we can say. But we are doing something unexpected, and we are dealing with the main development of this unexpected thing, from conception and design.

This is not enough to confirm the implementation of a battle royale Halo Infinite. Despite everything, the track is the most probable insofar as the solo mode has already proven itself, the coop mode is coming soon and the local multiplayer mode is just a bad memory. Besides, the success of the royal battles is enough to justify its presence in the first person shooter. Cult franchises like Call of Duty with Warzone and Battlefield with firestorm will have already preceded it.

something huge

The idea of a battle royale in Halo Infinite is all the more enticing as the Affinity studio claims to be preparing “something huge and new for the franchise”. A good hundred people would be mobilized on the project which is one of the three most important in progress at the studio.

If true, this new mode might breathe new life into the action game whose success seems to have slowed down a lot in recent months. As a reminder, Affinity is a regular in collaborations with 343 Industries. The studio has already contributed to the development of the opuses of the franchise since Halo 2 released in 2004. All that remains is to wait for confirmation from Microsoft!!!
