1656 star clusters discovered in our galaxy

Chinese astronomers have discovered 1,656 new star clusters 3,900 light-years away from the solar system, by analyzing data from the European Space Agency’s “Gaia” satellite, in our Milky Way galaxy, bringing the total number of discovered galaxy clusters to 6000. The Milky Way may contain 100,000 star clusters.

The researchers hypothesize that many undiscovered clusters are still hidden in dense stellar regions.

And star clusters, large groups of stars linked by gravity.

Scientists view them as important laboratories for studying the evolution of stars and clusters themselves, and for discovering the structure of a galaxy.

Scientists said we found 1656 star clusters and 48 thousand member stars.
