The two co-spokespersons for Québec solidaire, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois and Manon Massé, engaged in a short dance on the social network TikTok, to the sound of a song with sexist lyrics.
In a brief video of regarding ten seconds posted online by comedian Emna Achour, we can see the two united chefs deliver their interpretation of a viral dance on TikTok which uses the lyrics of the song Hit You With The Blick by rapper KJ, covered by tiktokeur @k.comedy.
The clip uploaded allows the word “bitch” to be heard, but the full lyrics turn out to be much more misogynistic. The full song makes outright rape allusions.
The song found success on TikTok when it was layered over images of an animated grandmother dancing, a trend later replicated by many netizens who took up dancing.
The video caught the attention of Rosalie Tremblay-Cloutier, a press officer for various Coalition avenir Québec candidates, who wondered on Twitter whether “Québec solidaire is now endorsing misogynistic and violent lyrics.”
Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois’ press secretary, Sandrine Bourque, counterattacked by brandishing the issue of the environment.
“Seriously, if the CAQ put as much energy into fighting climate change as finding muddy “spins” on QS, we might have lowered GHG emissions for four years instead of having increased them”, has writes Sandrine Bourque on Twitter.
