The Custodian of the Two Holy Places of Islam, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Ruler of Saudi Arabia, issued a royal decree on Tuesday ordering the appointment of HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz as Prime Minister ( President of the Council of Ministers), as an exception to the provision of Article 56 of the Basic Law on Governance and the relevant provisions contained in the Law of the Council of Ministers.
This royal decree, the text of which was reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), further provides that the Cabinet sessions attended by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will be chaired by himself. A second Royal Decree issued by the Sovereign of Saudi Arabia stipulates that the Council of Ministers will be restructured as follows:
1- His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, as Prime Minister.
2- His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Mansour bin Miteb bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of State.
3- His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy.
4- His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Muhammad bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of State.
5- His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Sport.
6- His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Interior.
