Keychron Q1 keyboard just right
—Please tell us regarding your first favorite product.
Mr. go ORi: Keychron Q1.
I can’t use it unless it’s an English keyboard and a mechanical keyboard. When I was looking for a keyboard under such conditions, I found the Keychron Q1.
Many mechanical keyboards have an arrangement in which the arrow keys fill the gaps in the keyboard body, but this Keychron Q1 has an arrangement in which the arrow keyboard is slightly separated to the lower right. There is, isn’t it?
I tried high-end keyboards such as HHKB and REALFORCE, but Keychron Q1 was just right for me.
The reason is that I often use various shortcuts in combination with arrow keys, but I’m a little unfamiliar with combining Fn and HJKL keys instead of arrow keys, like HHKB’s Vim layout. My fingers are tangled and I can’t operate it.
-I see. HJKL operation seems to take time to get used to.I often use arrows for shortcuts.
Mr. go ORi: That’s right. That’s why I want something that can use the arrow keys properly.
I knew that I would be less likely to make mistakes if the arrows were a little more independent, so when the Keychron Q1 came out, I immediately ordered it. When I bought it, I thought it would be difficult to use, but I got used to it and found it easy to use.
Typing precision has improved, including the comfort of the keys and the good key layout, and it feels good to type. Since I spend a lot of time typing, I think that the comfort of typing is important, so in that sense, I think it was a very good purchase.
“MX Master 3s” has become an indispensable mouse
—What is your second favorite product?
Mr. go ORi: My next favorite is the MX Master 3s. This is an indispensable tool today.
When it comes to operating a computer, I think there are trackpads, mice, and trackballs in the world, but I’m overwhelmingly a mouse person.
The trackpad is built into the Mac, so I use it a little, but my fingers get tired. Besides, I wasn’t used to the trackball. I’ve been using Logitech’s MX MASTER series 1st generation MX MASTER, MX MASTER 2S, 3, 3 for Mac, and 3s, and it’s an indispensable part of my life.
I have MX MASTER 3s as my main in my room where I work the most, but I always have MX Master 3 for Mac in my living room so I can use it anytime. I love it so much.
What I like regarding it is not only the comfort and fit in my hand, but also the operability of the shortcuts that can be set with Logi Options+ (an application that allows you to customize Logitech products).
It’s important to me that I can use shortcuts to do the same things as I do with the keyboard when I have a mouse.
It’s comfortable to use your fingers without having to put your hands back on the keyboard. I like it a lot.

Mr. go ORi: It’s evolving.
The MX MASTER 3s has a quiet clicking sound and no longer clicks. It’s great there too.
Also, the desire to tune is satisfied with Logi Options +. When I started setting things up, at first I thought, “It’s too much trouble to set up,” but once I started doing it, I got excited regarding setting things up, thinking, “This is good,” “I can do this and this,” and so on.
However, even though I did a lot of customization, I forgot when I actually used it. Even though I customized it in detail, I was like, “Huh?” “What the hell is this function?” Even with that, it has become an indispensable tool.
Dock “CalDigit TS4” that connects peripheral devices in one shot
—What is the third thing?
Mr. go ORi: A dock that supports Thunderbolt 4.
I usually use a 14-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Pro / 32GB memory model), and when I’m working hard, I work at my desk in my room.
A dock that connects Macs and peripheral devices is essential for that, and the one I’m using now is a CalDigit TS4 model that supports Thunderbolt 4. About half a year ago, a Thunderbolt 4 compatible model came out.
Mr. go ORi: The TS4 has 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, 4 USB-C ports, and now 2 external displays. One is 5K-2K ultra-wide, and a 27-inch 4K Dell monitor is installed on it.
While outputting the two monitors, I connected the keyboard to the TS4 because the speaker, Ethernet LAN cable, and the Keychron Q1 I mentioned earlier are wired.
You can connect your peripherals in one place, so it’s really convenient, and it can supply 98 watts of power to the connection source, so the 14-inch MacBook Pro supports fast charging. .
The MacBook Pro itself has an SD card reader, but the TS4 also has an SD card reader and a micro SD card reader, so you can insert the card into the dock and read the shooting data.
With the TS4, all peripheral connectivity is complete. It’s not convenient if you’re constantly plugging and unplugging the cables you’re plugging into your TS4, but if you want something that’s always connected and you can reconnect everything with just one cable or two, the TS4 dock is attractive.

Mr. go ORi: You bought the TS4 because you mightn’t wait for it. At the same time as the release in Japan, there was a new release sale, so the moment the stock was restocked, it was on sale for regarding 10% off, so I jumped on it and bought it. OK.
For some reason, many Thunderbolt 4 docks have a port on the front that connects to a computer.
Then, if you want to run the cable on the back side, you have to bring the cable from the front to the back side and run the back side to connect it. There is a terminal for connection, so there is no such clumsiness.
This “not clunky” thing is super important to me, and I definitely don’t want to have the front cables running backwards. I wondered what I was doing when I let them crawl behind me but let them come out from the front. Many Thunderbolt docks didn’t work.
But when CalDigit finally did it, I jumped at it.
We talked quite a bit (laughs).

Personally, I immediately tried incorporating a USB dock with reference to gORi’s environment, but the increased number of ports makes it easier to connect smartphones and SD cards, and the advantage is that you no longer need to replace cables. was.
The dock is a bit pricey, but it’s very satisfying, and it’s nice to get an expensive item once in a while.
