The Dolce&Gabbana show was one of the highlights of Milan Fashion Week, which lasted for 6 days, during which the new Italian luxury ready-to-wear for the upcoming spring and summer was presented. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian was the most popular guest this week and partner of Dolce and Gabbana in presenting their newest. What is the actual role you played in this field?
The idea for this collaboration between Dolce & Gabbana and reality TV star Kim Kardashian came following the latter announced that she had collected the house’s dresses since she was a teenager. She partnered with designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to review the House’s archives between 1987 and 2007 to select iconic designs that were developed and reintroduced for the upcoming Spring-Summer collection. Kim stated in this field that this collaboration was a dream that turned into reality through these originals that were remade following all these years to become the pieces we wear today.
About 85 looks included in this group, dominated by the colors of black, silver, white, sugar, gray, and beige. The floral print that often appears in the house’s shows at Kim’s behest has been absent, in place of the wild prints, which are also Dolce&Gabbana icons.
The idea of the house restoring a range of its designs was unthinkable for the duo Dolce and Gabbana, as they believe that “the past is past” and always strive to move forward with the new generation. But the Kardashian family proved to them the importance of the designs in the house’s archives when the girls of the family wore Dolce&Gabbana gowns that were in their closets, for the wedding of their sister Kourtney Kardashian to Travis Parker last May.
Pictures of this wedding, which were published on social media, convinced the designers to return to the house’s archives to be inspired by the designs of their new collection. They discovered that many of the ideas they had previously presented were still trendy and desirable. They are keen to present these designs with models of all sizes to show that their outfits are suitable for different women.
Kim Kardashian attended the show with her mother and three of her children, and the designers of the house participated in greeting the audience at the end, wearing a long black dress decorated with sparkling beads. Check out some of the looks from the Dolce&Gabbana Spring-Summer collection below:
