New York Giants 2022 – A Small Season Preview & Sports Betting Guide

Daniel Jones isn’t on his third team like Carson Wentz, but he’s been on his third head coach and offensive coordinator since his draft in 2019. One’s prediction for the Giants in 2022 likely depends on what one thinks of Brian Daboll — along with his right-hand offensive coordinator Mike Kafka — and ability to get the best out of Jones.

Before we get into the coaching staff, let’s see what kind of confidence bookmakers have in New York.

So admittedly, there is no great faith. The forecast is currently seven wins and an OVER is rather unlikely.

Bettors aren’t exactly keen on betting on the Titans just yet. You might expect an upset in Week 1 from a team that has a fresh offense. After that, the Giants have three home games in a row. While a 4-0 start would be a bit far-fetched, a 3-1 would certainly change the tide for a team that had just four wins under Joe Judge last season.

SWOT-Analyse

Strengths

The Giants ranked 10th in yards per play once morest them last year. With 5.3 defensive YPP, they were level with playoff teams like the Patriots and Packers, and that’s exactly the same average as they had in 2020. A veteran defensive coordinator has been signed in Don Martindale, and the fact that the first pick of the draft went to Kayvon Thibodeaux shows the Giants’ front office knows there’s always talent in a pretty good unit.

Weaknesses

Aside from left tackle Andrew Thomas, who jumped a sophomore, the offensive line was a disaster last season. The Giants’ front office rightly reworked a group that was ranked No. 30 by Pro Football Focus at the end of last year. With their second first-round pick inside the top 10, the Giants brought in Evan Neal to complement Thomas.

The decision not to use pass catchers is fortunate for receivers Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney. Expectations were high for these two last season, but they had as many touchdowns as you and me.

Opportunities

Daboll learned from Bill Belichick and Nick Saban to become Buffalo’s offensive coordinator in 2018. He was tasked with turning a mobile first-round draft quarterback from project to star. After four seasons, Josh Allen is now the pick for this year’s MVP title. It may not be a quick transition, but Jones already has three years of experience, albeit with Garrett and Shula as coaches.

If Jones can’t work with Daboll and Kafka and the Giants have invested so much money in the positions around him, then the Giants can safely move on.

Risks (Threats)

Of course, the biggest danger to bettors is that Jones just isn’t good. While that’s not a bad result for the Giants over the long term, it would cause 2022 bets to fail.
