The debate for health reform – whose formal proposal has not even been presented – has already been on the lips of public opinion for several weeks.
Now, in social networks they are reminding the Minister of Education, Alexander Gaviriaseveral statements he made once morest the possibility of delete EPS of the health system.
Gaviria had been Minister of Health during the government of former President Juan Manuel Santos and had defended tooth and nail the insurance model that is still in force in Colombia today.

Perhaps that is why when he was a presidential candidate – just seven months ago – he threw several darts at today’s President Gustavo Petro because of his proposals for the health system.
“The proposal of Gustavo Petro regarding reforming our health system is problematic. It shows ignorance and improvisation,” Gaviria wrote in February of this year. “It might cause chaos. It should concern us all. The health of the people is at stake”, he concluded.
Gaviria, in turn, has had several encounters with the current Minister of Health, Carolina Corcho. In fact, he described as “stupid” the arguments outlined by Corcho regarding the deaths caused by the Colombian health system.
Corcho warned that the current model had caused nearly 1.3 million deaths between 1998 and 2010. Although this is a figure of preventable deaths from the National Institute of Health, several analysts warned that the system might not be held responsible for these deaths. Among them was Gaviria.
“The lack of any intention of intellectual honesty is disturbing. The lie as a principle”, warned Gaviria.
Now Gaviria is being rained with questions because he isand is in the ministerial cabinet of the Petro Government and is keeping silent in the face of debates regarding health reform.
