Twenty years later, the memory of Joola

In Senegal, the sinking of the Joola still marks the spirits. This boat which was shuttling between Dakar and Ziguinchor, a town in Casamance in the south of the country, capsized on the night of September 26 to 27, 2002. Officially 1,863 dead, more than 2,000, according to associations of families of victims. And only 64 survivors. One of the biggest civil shipping disasters in the world.
