Qatar World Cup: All five will be knocked out in the first round
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is less than two months away. The international teams that have secured berths in Qatar are in the final stages of preparations ahead of the World Cup.
Although most of the top international teams are preparing very well ahead of the tournament, some teams are worried. Let’s take a look at the five biggest teams that might be out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
#5 Switzerland
Switzerland was the team that jumped into the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
Switzerland’s strongest performance was in the round of 16 once morest France, the current world champions. Switzerland equalized with 10 minutes to go.
While Switzerland’s 2-1 win over Spain on Saturday is a good sign, the fact that they are in Group G with Brazil and Serbia is a cause for concern.
#4 USA
The United States national team has been in pretty poor form lately. They have won only one of their last four matches. The U.S. Men’s National Team has recorded just four wins in their last 10. The wins were once morest Grenada, Morocco, Panama and Honduras.
The US team lost once morest Japan, Costa Rica and Canada and tied with Uruguay, Mexico and El Salvador. Despite a rich roster, the UAS national team is struggling to find a winning formula.
The U.S. is in Group B with England and Wales at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
#3 Uruguay
Uruguay won their last four matches and finished third behind Brazil and Argentina in the Conmayball World Cup qualifiers. But the team may struggle to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Star striker Luis Suarez continues to be in poor form while Darwin Nunes is also off track. Edinson Cavani has made just one appearance at club level so far this season.
Rodrigo Bentancur is in decent form and Federico Valverde will have to work hard for them as Portugal, South Korea and Ghana join Uruguay in the group.
#2 Germany
Germany’s title defense at the 2018 FIFA World Cup was utterly forgettable. Germany was behind Sweden, Mexico and South Korea.
The team’s performance ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is not promising. Hansi Flick’s side have managed just one win in their last six matches. There are talented players but luck has not helped them in recent games. If they don’t improve in the upcoming matches, Germany will have to suffer an unbearable defeat in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
#1 France
France have been in poor form at the moment, having won the UEFA Nations League last time around. Didier Deschamps’ men have managed just one win in their last six outings.
France beat Denmark 2-0 in yesterday’s match. Most of the players in the 2018 World Cup winning team are now past their prime. Inglo Kante recently returned from injury. He is likely to make it to the World Cup.
However, he has not been in the best form in recent seasons. Paul Pogba is unlikely to feature following undergoing knee surgery earlier this month.
Griezmann, one of their stars in 2018, is not in his old form. France will be hoping that Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe can pull off their magic and save the team. The team that looked invincible a few years back is looking very vulnerable ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
