The Treaty ceding the Congo of Leopold II to Belgium is on display to the public until the end of the year in the repository of the State archives (rue du Houblon, 26 in Brussels).
This treatise only existed in two copies written in beautiful pen writing, where you can discover the reciprocal commitments made by the donor, “Congo Free State” (property of Leopold II) and by the Belgian government, represented by the ministers of the time.
The two copies of the Treatise had over time mysteriously disappeared until one of the copies finally reappeared two years ago in an auction room.
Warned, the Belgian authorities were able to react quickly and thus recover the precious manuscript with its wax seals.
It is now the property of the State once more and is sheltered in the State archives where exhibited for the first time during the Heritage Days, it can be discovered until the end of the year.
