During the event Aniplex Online Fest 2022 More information was revealed for the previously announced anime adaptation of the video game by Square Enix y Platinum Games, NieR: Automata. The highlight in, without a doubt, a couple of promotional videos that were published on the official channel of Aniplex to introduce the main characters of the play, 2B y 9S.
In addition, it was announced that this series will be released in January 2023 and that the studio in charge of producing it will be neither more nor less than A-1 Pictureswho are recognized in the industry for being the animating house of the franchise of Sword Art Online.
Finally, in a mutual interview that took place between the animation director of the series Ryoji Matsuyama and the creator of the game Yoko Taroit was mentioned that this project will not be a faithful adaptation of the game, but rather it will be a new story, starring the iconic characters of this franchise.
Two new visuals for the series were also released.
The production of the video game began in 2014, with the creator of the series Yoko Tarothe producer Yosuke Saito and the main composer Keiichi Okabe returning to their respective roles, and the artist Akihiko Yoshida taking charge of character design. The game was praised for its story and themes, its gameplay, and its music. Some visual and technical issues were criticized, but sales exceeded expectations; as of July 2021, the game had sold over 6 million copies worldwide.
