According to the Xinhua News Agency, a Chinese media outlet, Wang Yi pointed out that Taiwan has been Chinese territory since ancient times. China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity have never been divided. The fact that the mainland and Taiwan belong to the same China has never changed. Efforts have never stopped, and the one-China principle has become the basic norm of international relations and the general consensus of the international community.
He said that 51 years ago, it was in this solemn hall that the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly passed Resolution 2758, which decided to restore the legitimate seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations and remove the “representative” of the Taiwan authorities from its illegal occupation. He was expelled from the seat of the United Nations, which completely resolved the issue of the representation of the whole of China, including Taiwan, in the United Nations and international institutions, politically, legally and procedurally, and completely blocked any attempts by anyone or any country to create “two China” or “one in one, one” space.
Wang Yi stressed that China is willing to continue to achieve the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait with the greatest sincerity and best efforts. To achieve this goal, we must fight the “Taiwan independence” separatist activities with the firmest determination, and take the strongest measures to eliminate the interference of external forces. Resolutely stop the split, and the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait has a realistic foundation. Only when the country achieves complete reunification can the Taiwan Strait truly usher in lasting peace. Any attempt to interfere in China’s internal affairs will definitely be opposed by the Chinese people. All actions will be crushed by the wheel of history.
