Táchira: They find the bodies of seven of the 10 disappeared (+ video)

Heavy rains increased the flow and attendees at a country club were surprised.

Seven bodies were found by the authorities and they are part of the ten people who were missing, following being dragged by the water, following a flood that occurred in the La Molina creek in the Lobatera municipality of Táchira state.

The entity’s governor, Freddy Bernal, released the information, while the rescue forces continue to search for the other three people.

A group of young people from the Methodist church -from San Cristóbal and Puerto Ordaz- who were on a recreation retreat in the village of Potrero de Las Casas in the Lobatera municipality, due to the rising of the La Molina ravine, might not return to the facilities of the tourist area, published La Nación.

Of the more than 30 visitors, 26 went for a walk around the area on Friday followingnoon. The powerful force of the water made it impossible for those on the other shore to return. Others, presumed to have been swept away by the force of the rising ravine, perished.

The located bodies, seven in total, belong to a teenager and six adults. One of the victims is a young man from Ciudad Guayana, who was a student at Ucab.

Earlier, Civil Protection (PC) of that entity reported on Instagram that “intense work has been carried out in the last hours to achieve the rescue work of missing persons in the Potrero de Las Casas sector of the Lobatera municipality.”

“This group was on a retreat at a club in the area, and during their field activity, the flow of the La Molina creek grew considerably, so they might not return to the club. There were 27 people on a tourist tour, who were prevented from returning and were considered missing,” they added.

An Emergency Operations Center (COE), made up of PCs from Táchira, Lobatera and Michelena, the GNB and the PNB, works on the rescue and attends to those rescued, with primary medical, psychological and shelter care.

The authorities added that four search vehicles were deployed to nine hamlets in the area and a terrestrial SAR (search and rescue) commission.
