Disagree Medical College with the removal of the mask

Removing the mandatory use of face masks would represent giving ground to Covid-19 and seasonal diseases such as allergies or even H1N1 influenza, warned the Medical College of Ciudad Juárez.

Alonso Ríos Delgado and Lorenzo Soberanes Maya, president and secretary of the union, respectively, stated yesterday that it is important that people continue to wear the mask until the end of the pandemic is decreed.

The foregoing following the Secretary of Health of the state government, Felipe Sandoval Magallanes, indicated that at the next meeting of the Health Council – expected for the following week – it will be discussed whether the use of face masks will continue to be mandatory.

The public servant and professional in medicine said that all the indicators and opinions in this regard will be analyzed.

He pointed out that this is not a one-person decision, but that it will be presented to all the authorities that participate in decision-making for the management of the SARS-CoV-2 contingency.

Ríos Delgado explained that the chinstrap is essential and in turn, Soberanes Maya stated that if the indispensable character is removed, such determination must be accompanied by awareness efforts.

“If we have already managed to contain a disease, we do not have to give the disease itself the advantage that it can take hold at least in our state. So far it has worked well for us (…) Far from helping the economy, which is another factor to be considered, it might contribute to the rise in work disabilities, ”expressed the head of the Medical Association.

In turn, Soberanes Maya emphasized that it is imperative that the community still considers that new variants of the coronavirus have emerged, such as BA.6. She stressed that they have shown increasing resistance to multiple vaccines and therefore appealed to the conscience of the authority and the community.

He stated that in this way the risks of illnesses can be reduced, since this city, he said, is highly allergenic.

Rogelio Ramos Guevara, president of the National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco), spoke out in favor of removing the mandatory use of face masks in the state. However, such a determination will still need to be scrutinized.

Since 2020 in Ciudad Juárez, 61,766 people infected with Covid have been officially documented, as well as 4,677 fatalities.
