Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, North Korea has consistently sided with Russia.
They vote once morest the adoption of the UN resolution condemning Russia, and openly defend Russia’s logic, arguing that the origin of the Ukraine crisis lies in the hegemonic policies of the United States and the West.
North Korea also officially recognized the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic, declared by pro-Russian separatists in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.
Russia, Syria and North Korea are the only countries in the world that have recognized the independence of these two countries.
Going one step further, it is known that they are pushing for a plan to send workers to the Donbass reconstruction project.
Russia is also responding to North Korea’s response by vetoing the UN Security Council resolution on additional sanctions once morest North Korea.
The Russian ambassador to Pyongyang also virtually sympathized with North Korea’s position, saying that South Korea should not allow the distribution of leaflets to North Korea to prevent escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The relationship between the two countries is getting stronger as Russia, which must prevent isolation from the international community, and North Korea, which must get out of the economic crisis as soon as possible, are aligned.

In the midst of this, North Korea publicly denied the rumors of an arms trade between North Korea and Russia raised by the United States.
“We have never exported weapons or ammunition to Russia in the past, and we have no plans to do so in the future,” he said.
Although North Korea is strengthening its strategic solidarity with Russia, it is interpreted as signaling that it will not take any action that might be entangled in a military clash that has occurred abroad.
