This Friday morning, an informative talk on blood donation and Bone Marrow Donor Registration was held at the Universidad Nacional del Chaco Austral for Uncaus medical students. This activity was organized by the Hemotherapy Service of the Hospital 4 de Junio.
Dr. Ivonne Duarte and the technician Cecilia Ross offered all the necessary information in this regard. They were accompanied by Uncaus medical student Karen Álvarez, who is doing her professional practice.
The promoter Marian Ambrosini, a bone marrow transplant patient, was also present on the occasion, who informed those present regarding her experience.
Medicine students carefully followed the presentation of the professionals and evacuated all their doubts.
This activity was carried out in commemoration of the fact that last September 17 was World Bone Marrow Donor Day, a date instituted by the World Association of Bone Marrow Donor Registries (WMDA) with the aim of thanking the donors of the world, raise awareness regarding the positive impact of transplants on each patient, celebrate second chances at life.
Finally, the professionals reminded that to be a bone marrow donor, those interested must register, donate blood, be between 18 and 40 years old, weigh more than 50 kilos and be in good health.
