Egyptian actress Mona Abdel Ghani described what her compatriot, artist Mervat Amin, suffered from “bullying” over her image in the condolences of director Ali Abdel Khaleq as “a defect and transgression.”
Mona Abdel-Ghani said in an interview with “Fuchsia” during her participation in the opening ceremony of the Cairo Drama Festival: “What happened with the artist, Mervat Amin, is a defect and transgression. I can get past that.”
And regarding linking violent incidents that occur in society from time to time with drama and artwork, she explained that “artwork sheds light on what is happening on the street, not the other way around and does not encourage it, and that exposure to slums when presented in the drama was intended to reform it, and this is what has already been done.”
She said, “The Cairo Drama Festival is not new to us. In the past, there was the Radio and Television Festival, then it stopped and came back once more.”
She explained that “the honor given to the great artists may have been delayed, but that is due to their health conditions, but it was necessary to present this touch of loyalty.”
The artist, Mona Abdel Ghani, participated in the last Ramadan drama season, in the series “The Choice 3”, starring Karim Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed El Sakka, Khaled Zaki, Yasser Jalal, and many artists, written by Hani Sarhan and directed by Peter Mimi.
