The Sesame contest parade to catch cheaters in the 2023 online contest

This year once more, the written tests of the Sesame competition will be remote. Steps will be taken to prevent cheating.

The Covid will have left its mark. For two years, the post-baccalaureate competition for business schools Sesame has set up the written tests online and no longer in an exam room. A popular solution during the Covid-19 health crisis. For this next edition in the spring of 2023, this will still be the case. Thus, the writings will be mainly composed of MCQs. “We work with the TestWe platform. Online events will be monitored through an anti-fraud system., explains Thomas Lagathu, director of Sesame. This device makes it possible to block all access to a window other than that of the examination. The microphone is active throughout the event. Before composing, the students are subjected to an identity check with a camera that photographs an identity document and films their environment in 360°. Then photos are taken every 2 to 5 seconds. For the 2023 session, the questions will be asked randomly to further limit the risk of cheating.

In 2022, 40 fraudsters were excluded from the contest

Similarly, next spring, to reduce the technical hazards often due to a poor internet connection, the events will be grouped together, going from five to three. Thus, on the morning of April 12, writing day, candidates will take their two language tests at the same time, for a total of one hour. The test of contemporary issues and reasoning and skills will then follow, for 1h30. The followingnoon will be reserved for documentary analysis for two hours.

According to the competition, this tool, which has been used for two editions already, makes it possible to detect fraud. For the 2022 session, 52 million images and 3000 days of audio tapes have been recorded. The software detects suspicious noises and images. These are then analyzed by a disciplinary board. A total of 40 fraudsters had been identified and excluded from the competition.

Computer equipment can be loaned to candidates

Since the tests are online, it is essential for candidates to have a computer, an internet connection, a microphone and a webcam. For those who are not equipped, the competition has everything planned: “The schools welcome on their campus the candidates who wish it. Equipment loan is also possible.assured Thomas Lagathu.

The Sesame contest brings together 14 business schools. Some offer a master’s in five following the baccalaureate (EBP international Kedge, EBS, EDC, EMLV, EM Normandie, ESCE, Ipag BS, PSB, Tema Neoma BS), and the four-year programs (BBA) of Skema, Excelia, Cesem Neoma, Essec, EM Lyon, Neoma, Kedge and South Champagne BS).
