This Thursday, September 22, Congressman Alejandro Enrique Cavero Alva, of the political party Avanza Paísintroduced a bill that proposes to permanently grant the automatic baccalaureate for university students.
The purpose of the proposal is to modify article 45, paragraph 1 of Law No. 30220 so that students of public and private universities who have completed their study plan and other undergraduate requirements with a passing grade, automatically access the Bachelor’s degree, validating a foreign language certificate.
Likewise, the document states that it will be applied to students who complete their undergraduate studies in public and private universities in Peru from the year 2022.

The bill details that students who have passed their undergraduate studies and have knowledge of a foreign language, preferably English or their native language, from both public and private universities, automatically access to obtain the Bachelor’s degree.
What is the rationale for this automatic baccalaureate bill?
In the bill they note that the initiative seeks to adapt the regulations to the need of graduates to quickly enter the labor market. Holding you get the bachelor’s degree it increases the possibilities of obtaining a job, since it shows a higher level of experience and knowledge.
“It is important that the Congress of the republic collect the continuous claims of students in order for educational institutions to support young people in their task of entering the labor market as soon as possible. The goal is to accumulate experience and build greater practical skills that will make them more productive”, they mentioned.

Law No. 30220, or better known as University Lawwas promulgated in 2014 in order to raise the quality standards of higher education for citizens, through the development of basic criteria in research, to promote quality higher education for all Peruvians.
