“The Reimanns”: Shark alert in Hawaii

If Konny Reimann hates one thing, it’s boredom. Germany’s best-known emigrant always needs a project in which the 67-year-old can really let off steam – and in which the viewers of the docu-soap “Welcome to the Reimanns” are well entertained, true to Konny’s motto: “My life is a one-off construction site .”

In the new season (from Sunday), Konny is once more tirelessly sawing and digging to make Reimann’s paradise on the Hawaiian island of Oahu even more of a paradise. His mammoth project, a 50 square meter pool including terrace and pool house on Konny Island III, is finally to be completed. But, as is almost always the case, the family thwarts his plans and demands his attention.

The Reimanns dive with sharks more often – here with whale sharks in Mexico

In the first episode there is a big family reunion: Daughter Janina, husband Coleman and son Charlie pay Konny and Manu a visit. Son Jason also flies from the mainland to his parents in Hawaii. Konny has his son and son-in-law ready for a special challenge: throwing knives. The winner gets to choose which trip they go on.

FIVE FACTS ABOUT THE REIMANNS

  • In 2004 the Reimanns moved from Hamburg to Texas (USA) thanks to a Green Card they had won.
  • Konny (66) and Manu (53) have two children: son Jason and daughter Janina
  • In 2016, they moved to the Hawaiian island of Oahu
  • On “Stern TV” and “Goodbye Germany” the emigrants were accompanied by cameras
  • In 2013, the first season of her docu-soap started on RTL2, which has been running on Kabel Eins since 2022

Konny wins, of course, and the adrenaline junkie suggests an adventure in the sea: swimming with four-meter-long Galapagos sharks. Without a protective cage, in the middle of open water, with dozens of sharks. The Galapagos shark (Carcharhinus galapagensis) is a species of shark in the requiem shark family. Classified as dangerous to humans, it is aggressive and very inquisitive. Attacks on people are very rare, but they can happen.

Even Konny doesn’t leave the experience cold: “It’s a world of difference compared to diving with a cage. The feeling is completely different. Especially when you’re in a horde of sharks.”

“Welcome to the Reimanns”: From Sunday, September 25, 8:15 p.m. on Kabel Eins and Joyn.
