Five of the six Swiss boats competing in the semi-finals of the Racice World Championships have won their ticket for a final. The Vaudois Raphaël Ahumada and Frédérique Rol are notably in the running for a podium.
Raphaël Ahumada and his teammate Jan Schäuble finished 2nd in their lightweight double sculls semi-final, managing their effort perfectly. Frédérique Rol and Patricia Merz for their part snatched the 3rd and last ticket available in their series by beating the Italian boat by 0”22, in the same category.
Still in light weight, the promising Andri Struzina (25) won his semi-final in single sculls. The Zugois will play his final on Friday already (3:02 p.m.). The women’s quad (Célia Dupré, Pascale Walker, Lisa Lötscher, Salome Ulrich) and the men’s coxless four (Tim Roth, Andrin Gulich, Joel Schürch, Roman Röösli) also qualified for the final.
Only the four male pairs (Patrick Brunner, Kai Schätzle, Nils Schneider, Dominic Condrau) failed on Thursday.
