A product has emerged to solve the wired cable problem, which was pointed out as one of the few shortcomings of the VR HMD valve index. The wireless adapter ‘Nopio’ unveiled through the Kickstarter project is the main character.
Nopio is a product being developed by an Australian startup company of the same name, and it is a device that allows you to enjoy the valve index wirelessly. The Kickstarter fundraising started on the 18th, and regarding $600,000 (regarding 840 million won) has now been raised, exceeding the goal of regarding $200,000 (regarding 283 million won). On the 21st, a Steam page was also opened.
The way it works is simple. Connect the cable previously connected to the HMD to a separate adapter, connect the wireless connection device to the HMD, and then put it on the head mount. There is no additional hardware to use it, and it doesn’t affect game performance as it doesn’t use any extra resources to use the device. The maximum use time is 2 hours, and an additional battery that can be worn on the body is also being developed.
The currently set price of Nopio is $387 per unit (regarding 540,000 KRW), and can be purchased for $339 (herefollowing 470,000 KRW) when pre-ordered. The fundraising will continue until November, and prototype production will begin as soon as the fundraising ends, and the goal is to deliver 2,000 products within March of next year.
More details regarding Nopio will be revealed later.
