Radical sounds from the Black Box in the Kunstraum Innsbruck – music

The US composer, pianist and singer Julius Eastman was a dazzling figure in the minimal music scene of the 1970s. But he was not granted much posthumous fame: when Eastman died impoverished and lonely in 1990 at the age of only fifty, the music world hardly took any notice of it. Its rediscovery began a few years ago, and the Black Lives Matter movement was not uninvolved.
