France coach Didier Deschamps decided to call in Adrien Trouwe to replace the injured Luca Dean, who was planning to rely on him as a replacement for the also injured Theo Hernandez.
The French Football Federation announced today, Tuesday, in a statement, that Dean appeared on Monday at the Clairefontein National Football Center, where the team is camping in preparation for the European Nations League.
But the team’s medical staff conducted tests on the player, which showed that he would not be able to play the next two matches in the tournament due to a right ankle injury.
Rennes’ Trofe will replace Aston Villa’s Dean, once morest Austria on Thursday and Denmark on Sunday.
Yesterday, Monday, the French Federation announced in a statement that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) and Teo Hernandez (AC Milan) were injured.
Nantes goalkeeper Alba Laveau was called to replace Lloris, and Dean was expected to replace Hernandez.
France, the 2018 world champions, are bottom of Group A of the Nations League with only two points behind Denmark, Croatia and Austria, so they need to collect points in order to maintain their hopes of crowning the tournament they also bear.
