One person died by earthquake in Mexico (+ videos)

A person died this Monday due to the fall of a fence in a shopping center in the port of Manzanillo following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that shook Mexico.

“In Manzanillo, a person lost his life because a fence fell,” reported the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in a telephone conversation with the secretary of the National Navy, Admiral José Rafael Ojeda Durán.

Manzanillo is located regarding 220 kilometers from Coalcoman, the municipality in the state of Michoacán that was the epicenter of the earthquake recorded at 1:05 p.m. local time (18:05 GMT).

The governor of Colima, Indira Vizcaíno, reported that the Civil Protection protocols were activated, including the evaluation of potential material damage. “Classes are suspended today Monday in the evening shift at all levels,” she announced.

The earthquake was felt in Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Jalisco, Colima and Mexico City.
