The Spinalian team Les Épines Blanches will compete in the World Championships in Boston next April.

After obtaining third place in the last French Championships, the skaters from Spinal, specializing in ballet on ice, won their ticket to compete in the National Cup 2023 which will take place in Boston (USA) from April 20 to 23. The dream continues for the ice dancers of the Épinal club!

Spread the word, it’s not just the Épinal Wildcats hockey players who shine on the Poissompré ice rink. The ice skating club has also had excellent performances for many years. But, if there is an area which is perhaps too little known and which, nevertheless, obtains admirable results, it is the “ballet on ice” section of the club.

Indeed, only open since 2019 and despite the passage of Covid-19, the “ballet” section has found its group of around fifteen young women, motivated and talented, aged 13 to 19.

Engaged for the French Championships in Nice on May 7, the Spinaliennes left with great ambitions and they were not unworthy since they managed to take 3rd place in the event.

A satisfaction for the club and its president, Angélique Consigny, who confides that “everyone had this podium in mind but nothing was certain in advance. From now on, the bronze medal acquired, it is the World Championship in Boston, in April 2023 that we are aiming for”.

With this performance, the Spinaliennes have won the right to represent France at the Ice Ballet Nations Cup which will take place from April 20 to 23, 2023 near Boston.

Led by Ines Arnould, the captain, Camille Wagon, vice-captain, the fifteen girls will compete once morest the world’s gratin. “Skaters and skaters because there will be a boy, further specifies the president. The girls are growing up, have other obligations, so we have to partially renew the group, which is why, since September, we have completed the group with new recruits, who are in a trial period until the next vacation. Cohesion is an important element.”

Indeed, two licensees are “too old to stay in the junior team”: Lauraly Consigny and Manon Cornu. “But they will be on the trip in the staff of the Les Épines Blanches team, in the company of the coach: Caroline Morel”, assures Angélique Consigny.

It should be noted that the year will be important for the Spinalian club since the Poissompré d’Épinal ice rink will be the scene of the French Ballet on Ice Championship, on May 6 and 7, 2023. The opportunity for the Spinaliennes to compete at home and to aim for a national title.
