For months, Economics Minister Robert Habeck (53, Greens) was the star of political Berlin, Germany’s most popular politician. But following serious mishaps (gas levy botches, nuclear power plant chaos), Habeck is under pressure like never before and falls in surveys.
And none of the top green jumps to him publicly. Not even Annalena Baerbock (41), whom he gave way to the chancellor candidacy in 2021.
