The problem was that in the T20 series, apart from Smriti Mandana and Harmanpreet Kaur, there was no other reliable player in the Indian batting line-up. Another great player, Jamima Rodrigues, was ruled out due to injury, which is a big blow for India. Shafali Verma is yet to overcome his backfoot weakness. India’s batting line-up was also not right. Dylan Hemalatha, who has not performed impressively in any format so far, was considered at number three and KP Navgire, who has been performing brilliantly in the top order in domestic cricket, was dropped in the lower order and then not considered.
