As the Shift to Cloud-Native Architectures Accelerates, the Data Being Generated Exceeds the Capacity of Current Solutions to Produce Meaningful Analytics According to Dynatrace

The survey, conducted by software intelligence firm Dynatrace of 1,300 CIOs and IT and cloud operations managers at large enterprises, shows that 71% of CIOs say the explosion of data produced by native technology stacks of the cloud is beyond human capacity to manage them.

Teams use an average of 10 monitoring tools for their tech stacks, but they can only observe 9% of their environment. It’s no surprise, then, that 59% of CIOs say that without a more automated approach to IT operations, their teams might soon be overwhelmed by the growing complexity of their technology stack.

“The multi-cloud and cloud-native architectures are essential to help organizations achieve their digital transformation goals“, says Bernd Greifeneder, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Dynatrace.”While organizations benefit from the flexibility and scale these technologies bring, the explosion of observability and safety data they produce is increasingly difficult to manage and analyze. Existing tools – and there may be dozens of them – keep data in silos, making it difficult and costly to unlock information when organizations need it. As a result, they struggle to achieve the highest standards of security and performance for all of their digital services.

Among other survey findings, 45% of CIOs say it’s too expensive to manage a large volume of observability and security data using existing analytics solutions, so they don’t keep than the most critical data. 93% of them say that AIOps and automation are increasingly essential to alleviate the shortage of qualified professionals in the fields of IT, development and security, and to reduce the risk of team exhaustion in the face of the complexity of modern cloud and development environments.
