NHL – Hockey: Former recruiter Claude Carrier died at 74

Former New Jersey Devils scout Claude Carrier is dead. The sad news was confirmed by his son Jean on Twitter. He was 74 years old.

Carrier was known for being a great craftsman in the selection of Martin Brodeur by the Devils in 1990. He was fired by the New Jersey team in 2016.

Claude Carrier became an assistant coach with the Remparts in 1975-76. He had been hired by Martin Madden senior. The following season, he made the leap as a recruiter for the Washington Capitals while maintaining his job with the Remparts.

From 1984-85, he became a full-time scout for the Devils with whom he won the Stanley Cup three times in 1995, 2000 and 2003. In 2002-03, he became draft director for the Devils.
