Kochi: A woman filed a complaint before the Chief Minister and the Women’s Commission alleging that the police overturned her dowry harassment complaint. Dhanya Nalinakshan, a resident of Aluva South Vazhakulam, filed a complaint once morest the Tadiittaparam police. In a press conference at the Ernakulam Press Club, the woman alleged that she and her family had to face a lot of mental torture from the side of the police following taking the statement.
Dhanya and Mithun, natives of Aluva South Vazhakulam, got married in 2016. Mithun took Dhanya to Canada in 2017 amid dowry issues. In October 2021, NRA lodged a complaint at the Aluva Tadiittaparam police station through the NRA following the dowry harassment continued, including by the in-laws. Police refused to record his statement online as he was abroad.
Even following he returned home, the police continued to ignore him. It is alleged that even when asked regarding the charge sheet where the statement was not properly recorded, the police continued to object. Even though she was a complainant, the police including her father and mother were called to the station many times and harassed her. The woman also alleged that the police is cooperating with the reconciliation efforts of the husband’s family members. After filing a complaint with the Chief Minister and the Women’s Commission, the complainant met the media in Kochi.
