A woman who was arrested by the police in Iran for not covering her head in public has died. Mahsa Amina (22), who was unconscious following being beaten by the police, died on Friday while undergoing treatment. Relatives and human rights activists came to the scene demanding that those responsible be punished.
The woman, who arrived in Tehran with her family on Tuesday, was arrested on charges of not dressing properly. Mahsa was arrested by the Police Guidance Patrol, which is responsible for ensuring religious dress in Iran. The local media reported that the woman fell unconscious following being hit on the head at the police station. But the police say that she was not harmed and the girl was confused. After the funeral of Mahsa, the police used tear gas once morest the protest rally held in front of the governor’s residence.
