| Bajrang Punia lost Mangalam

Belgrade: India’s Olympian Bajrang Punia lost in the World Wrestling Championship in Serbia. Olympic bronze medalist and two-time Commonwealth Games champion Bajrang Punia lost in the quarter-finals of the 65 kg category. Bajrang was beaten by US’s Yianni Diacomihalis. The U.S. has a technical advantage (10-0). The star surpassed Bajrang. Bajrang has won three medals in the World Championship.

If Yianni makes it to the final, the Indian athlete will have a chance to compete in the repechage round and win bronze. Yiani is a two-time cadet world championship winner.

Bajrang reached the quarters following defeating Cuba’s Alejandro Entiqua Valdez Tobias. 18-year-old Sagar Jaglan opened the fight for bronze by defeating Mongolia’s Suldhuku Olonbayar.
