Health: Raising the degree of preparedness in medical facilities in conjunction with the implementation of the COP27 insurance plan

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting today, Saturday, with the Medical Insurance Committee of the United Nations Climate Change Conference “COP27” to review the plan to secure the conference, which will be hosted by Sharm El-Sheikh, next November.

The meeting dealt with a detailed presentation on the axes of the medical insurance plan for the Governorate of South Sinai throughout the conference period, which includes the provision of all services (curative, preventive, and ambulatory) to the delegations participating in the conference, in parallel with raising the degree of preparedness in all medical facilities in all governorates of the Republic.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the minister reviewed the proposed plan to provide preventive services, starting with the stage of preparation and receiving delegations, the application of preventive measures, precautionary measures for the emerging corona virus, and the mechanism for evaluating procedures during the event, and the minister was also briefed on the preventive teams participating in The event consisted of doctors, health observers, laboratory officials, environmental affairs teams, and disease vector control.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the minister followed up on the field traffic reports of the Preventive and Environmental Affairs teams to conduct an environmental and health assessment and to follow up on the application of precautionary measures in (hospitals, hotels, desalination plants, swimming pools, treatment plants, water tanks, restaurants) in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the minister reviewed the evacuation hospitals of all levels (first, second, and third) that are listed to provide medical services within Hadath, in South Sinai and neighboring governorates, in addition to the stationing of fixed and mobile clinics, to secure medical services in the hotels of delegations’ residence and the vicinity of the headquarters of sessions The conference, in addition to the field hospital being implemented near the Sharm El-Sheikh Convention Center.

Abdul Ghaffar added that the minister was briefed on the medical and non-medical equipment in progress in hospitals and fixed and mobile clinics, the provision of a sufficient stock of medical and preventive supplies, blood groups and its derivatives, as well as the list of teams that will provide medical services in various specialties in those places, and he also followed up on field traffic reports on the facilities. The private medical facilities in South Sinai Governorate, whether (hospitals, health clubs, laboratories, specialized clinics).

“Abdul Ghaffar” indicated that the minister reviewed the details of the plan with regard to emergency insurance, as he reviewed the equipment of the ambulance fleet, which includes (ambulances equipped with intensive care units, rapid intervention vehicles, logistical support vehicles, electric scooters, infection control vehicles, and field control vehicles for the Department of Health). crises, and two workshops for the maintenance of ambulances and medical equipment), and the minister was briefed on the ambulance insurance centers at the airstrip, the places of residence of delegations, the tourist routes, as well as the conference venue, and the axes leading to Sharm el-Sheikh.

Abdel Ghaffar said that the minister directed the speedy completion of the electronic system being implemented, to link all sites providing medical services to the conference participants, and to provide tablets for all participating medical staff. The speed of dealing with major events, especially major.

Abdul Ghaffar added that the minister directed that a practical simulation of medical insurance scenarios be conducted before hosting the conference, to identify any challenges or needs, and to ensure that all the necessary needs are available to provide medical services to the participants in the event.

Abdel Ghaffar revealed that the minister directed the launch of a revitalizing campaign to vaccinate workers in hotels, restaurants, shops, tourism companies, and public transportation drivers in Sharm El Sheikh, with the anti-Coronavirus vaccines.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Assistant Minister of Health for Monitoring and Follow-up and Head of the Health Care Authority, Dr. Mohamed Gad, Head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, Dr. Amr Kandil, Head of the Preventive Medicine Sector, Dr. Hazem El-Fil, Head of the Curative Medicine Sector, and Dr. Sherif Wadih, Advisor to the Minister for Emergency and Urgent Care.
