The Korean Cultural Center in France operates an incense burner from the 20th to the 21st.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Bo-kyun sent condolences on the 17th to the bereaved family of the late artist Bang Hye-ja, who died in France on the 15th (local time).

Minister Park said in the condolences, “I express my unbounded respect for the passion, artistic spirit, and outstanding achievements of the deceased. I hope,” he said.

Bang, famous as a ‘painter of light’, graduated from the Department of Painting at Seoul National University and moved to France in 1961 to study murals and colored glass at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Paris.

Light, life, and the universe were expressed using various materials such as Korean paper and non-woven fabrics, soil and mineral pigments.

In 2008, he received the Special Award of the 2nd Korean Artist Award, the Order of the Order of Culture of the Republic of Korea in 2010, and the 11th Korean-French Culture Award in 2012.

The Korean Cultural Center in France plans to operate an incense burner at the Cultural Center from the 20th to the 21st (local time) so that French artists and locals can commemorate the deceased.
