The price of pasta followed: in May, Allianz estimated in a study that it had increased by 19% in the euro zone over 18 months. And in Canada, a major wheat exporter, the 500-gram package took 60 cents over a year in July, to 3.16 Canadian dollars, according to official figures.
In Thailand, instant noodles, a very popular product whose price is capped by the state, rose at the end of August for the first time in fourteen years. The sachet took one baht (less than 0.03 euro) to reach seven baht (20 cents). In the wake of corn, the kilo of tortilla, a staple food in Mexico, rose by 2.79 pesos on average between January and mid-September, according to official figures. It is one of the products that most influence inflation in the country.
In Brazil, another food present in most meals, “carioca” beans, cost 22.67% more in August than a year earlier, according to the national statistics institute.
