Evolved in 1 hour… China Telecom “No casualties”
A fire broke out in the 42-story building of China Telecom, a state-run news agency, in Changsha, Hunan Province, China around 3:30 pm on the 16th, China Central (CC) TV reported.
According to the video released by CCTV, the flames covered the entire building and spread to the upper floors, and black smoke soared.
A video was posted on social media in which people working inside the building rushed out of the building through the stairs following the fire broke out.
The Chinese newspaper network reported that the local fire department dispatched 36 fire trucks and 280 firefighters to the scene, and the fire was extinguished in regarding an hour.
China Telecom said, “The fire occurred on the outer wall of the building and there were no casualties.”
According to local media, the cell phones of some China Telecom subscribers were turned off following the fire broke out.
Built in 2000, the building is 218 meters high, 42 stories above the ground and 2 stories below the ground. It is the first building in Changsha to be over 200 meters tall.
