A Seoul Metro employee, Jeon (31), was arrested on suspicion of murdering a female station worker in her 20s in a women’s restroom at Sindang Station on Seoul Subway Line 2.
Judge Kim Se-yong of the Seoul Central District Court issued a warrant on the 16th, saying, “There is a risk of destroying evidence and escaping” following conducting an interrogation of the suspect before his arrest.
Jeon was arrested on the 14th of this month at 9 pm on the charge of stalking the victim at Sindang Station and killing him with a knife. The victim was taken to hospital, but eventually died.
On the day of the crime, to find out where the victim worked, he entered the customer safety room at Gusan Station on Subway Line 6, introduced himself as an employee of the Seoul Transportation Corporation, and connected directly to Metronet, the internal network of the corporation.
Previously, the Seoul Western Police Station applied the charge of the Stalking Crime Punishment Act and sent Jeon to the Seoul Western District Prosecutor’s Office in March of this year.
