On the fourth anniversary of its revival in September of the year 2018, at the initiative of the two sisters Heba and Nahla Zibawi, the administration of “Seville Theater and Cinema – Saida” launched a series of festive activities, during which it affirms its insistence on continuing as a center for promoting culture, thought and arts, supporting, highlighting and presenting creative talents despite all the circumstances and conditions that are going through In the country, the first activities dedicated to the occasion was the opening of the “Heyla Ya Wide exhibition” by the plastic artist Wassim Qammou, in the exhibition hall in “Seville” – Saida.
The exhibition, which includes more than 22 paintings, plastic drawings, and scenic sketches from the diaries of Sidon’s sea, its port, its fishermen, and the facade of the old city, was created by funnels, in a live or direct drawing technique, for each scene at the time.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by a large group of social, artistic and cultural personalities, connoisseurs of fine art, and a group of invited guests, along with the family of “Seville – Saida” and friends and family of the artist Qamoou.
The wanderer among the drawings and “scenes” of the exhibition “Hela Ya Wasi’” by Wassim Qammou’ is as if he is taking an actual tour of Sidon’s sea front, where he sees those daily scenes that the visitor monitors, the common denominator of which is marine life between fishing boats and fishermen with nets or hooks and the movement of pioneers For the beach and swimming by sea, or tourists in the Sidon sea castle, along with paintings of some other landmarks such as Sidon Island – Al-Zera, Riad El Solh Palace, the Land Citadel and the Northern Waterfront at Rafic Hariri Sports City .. As if they are chapters from a biography of a marine city told honestly by drawings and colors of the feather of suppression And realistic, relying on “the technique of live or direct drawing of every scene or marine event at the moment.”
Waseem Qammou
The artist Qamoou says, “I painted these paintings during the years 2021 and 2022, and 90% of the paintings were directly from the place where I was sitting in front of fishermen, in the port, or on the Corniche, regardless of the weather conditions in our neighborhood, and I draw what my eyes observe from the scenes that attract me.”
He added, “The exhibition includes 22 paintings and 6 scenes, in which 3 color techniques “acrylic, oil, and water” were adopted.
Qammoua does not hide his influence on the Russian plastic art school and distinguished artists with this technique that he adopted, but he added to it his spirit and creativity to have his artistic identity – as he says.
Qammou’ expresses his great thanks and appreciation to the administration of “Sevilla – Saida” and to the two sisters, Heba and Nahla Zibawi, for hosting this exhibition, their moral support, encouraging him personally, embracing his talent and presenting it through this exhibition.
