Outrage at the German border because of a repository

The population of Hohentengen D and the surrounding area vented on Thursday at an information event regarding the planned nuclear waste storage facility. The representatives of the federal government and Nagra had a difficult time.

Outraged regarding the choice of location for the nuclear waste repository: population in Hohentengen D on the border with Switzerland.

First the nuclear power plants on the border, then the aircraft noise and now a repository, said a 23-year-old German. “It feels like we are the compost heap of Switzerland.”

If it were only regarding compost, the emotions in the Hohentengen multi-purpose hall would probably not have run as high. Many in the packed hall were outraged that Switzerland wanted to bury its nuclear waste just a stone’s throw away from them.
