Serena Williams may have decided to stay away from tennis, but she hinted that her career may continue when she spoke regarding veteran American football player Tom Brady, who retired for a short period before making a comeback.
During an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” the 23-times Grand Slam champion did not rule out following in the footsteps of seven-times NBA champion Brady.
“I just said that, you know, I think Tom Brady started a really cool trend,” said Williams, who made a similar comment on Tuesday’s appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show.”
Brady announced his retirement in February, before reversing his decision six weeks later, and led the Tampa Bay Buckners to victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the opening of the NFL this weekend, to start his 23rd season in the championship.
Williams announced her intention to retire in an article for Vogue last month, and while she did not confirm that the US Open would be her last, she did receive honors before her every game in the tournament, which she saw off her opponent in the third round this month.
