IESA and VenAmCham awarded the 2022 Journalist Award

As part of its support for the practice of journalism, to highlight and promote investigative work and commitment to public service issues, the Institute for Higher Administration Studies (IESA) joined forces with the Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VenAmCham) and the National Association of Journalists (CNP) in the second edition of the 2022 Journalist Award, which recognized the work of three communication professionals, last Thursday, September 8.

Euclides Sotillo, journalist from Venevisión, was the winner in the Audiovisual Media category for his work “Proyecto San Miguel Arcángel”; Erick González, from the CECODAP communications team, was the undisputed winner in the Written and Digital Media category for his investigation “Enslaving to commit a crime: Recruitment of children and adolescents for organized crime”; and Gregoria Díaz, a journalist from Crónica Uno, received an honorable mention for her report “Magdaleno: the artisan city of Aragua state became a crime factory”.

As part of the recognition, IESA granted each winner an online training of 24 academic hours or five weeks of accompaniment, which they will be able to choose from the offer of programs available in Executive Education. “We are pleased to have teamed up with the CNP and VenAmCham in this award, recognizing the work they do and that currently lacks sufficient support. We believe that training is essential throughout any career and that is why IESA was present, supporting high-level programs that allow them to grow in the exercise of the profession”, highlighted Valentina Urdaneta, Director of Marketing and Communication at IESA.

The day was attended by journalists from different print, audiovisual and digital media, as well as the board and members of the CNP. Tinedo Guía, president of the CNP, together with Dereck Blanco, from Vivo Play and Circuito X, and Esteninf Olivares, a journalist from Unión Radio, formed a panel that answered questions regarding the challenges of journalism in the past, today and in the future. future.

The VenAmCham Journalist Award aims to contribute to the professional improvement of social communicators, deepen relations with the social media and raise awareness regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); It was created in 2004 under the name “Frank Amador Award”, and following a long pause it was resumed in 2021 as the “Journalist’s Award”.
