Possibility of running for Joo Ho-young remains

Rep. Lee Yong-ho of People’s Power cast his vote for the floor leader election on the 15th. As a result, the ‘Ho-Young Joo theory’ was virtually canceled and the contest was held.
Rep. Lee said at a press conference at the National Assembly, “Even in the current situation where the party is facing a major crisis, only regressive remarks from the past are being made, such as the idea of turning the floor leader back and electing the party.” said. Rep. Lee, who belongs to the only ruling party in Honam, was confident that “Honam is a constituency, and just by choosing me, who is practical and moderately conservative, the power of the people will give a fresh shock.” Re-elected lawmaker Lee, who had Namwon, Imsil, and Sunchang as constituencies in Jeollabuk-do, joined the people’s power in December last year by declaring his support for presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol. He served as a co-secretary of the ‘Dandelion Group’ led by Rep. Yoon Kye and the secretary of the political affairs, judicial and administrative division of the Presidential Transition Committee.
Third-term lawmaker Park Dae-dae also told KBS, “I’m actually preparing. I think I will act according to that part,” he said. Rep. Jo Hae-jin also met with reporters at the National Assembly and said, “I wonder if we should sort things out today.”
In addition, four-term lawmakers Kim Hak-yong and Hong Moon-pyo, and three-term lawmakers Yoon Jae-ok and Lee Jong-bae are considered candidates. One lawmaker predicted, “Middle-ranked lawmakers were waiting for the possibility of Joo Ho-young’s election, but as Lee opens the door, declarations of candidacy will follow one following another.” The People’s Power is announced on the 16th, and candidates are accepted on the 17th, and then the general assembly of the National Assembly is held on the 19th and elections are held.
As Rep. Lee announced his candidacy, the ‘Ho-Young Joo theory’ practically disappeared. However, the possibility that state legislators will participate in the primary cannot be ruled out. Assemblyman Joo met with reporters at the National Assembly and when asked if he would run for a primary election, he avoided an immediate answer, saying, “I am looking at the whole situation.”
Meanwhile, fourth-term lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyeon, who opposed the establishment of the Emergency Response Committee, insisted on delaying the election of the floor leader following the conclusion of the application for injunction.
